Maj. Andrea Ammendola has worked at the Special Operational Group (ROS) of the Italian Carabinieri Corps since 2005. He first conducted investigations against terrorist attacks conducted against the Italian Military contingent in Iraq. From 2009 to 2013, he was the project manager in ‘project Jweb’, which was aimed at developing a strategy to counter the exploitation on the Internet by al-Qaeda and ISIS. He has authored several strategic analysis reports on the terrorist threats to Italy, in particular the menace of lone actors and the radicalisation process. He contributed to several training missions abroad, in Mauritania, Mali and Iraq, and has been the Carabinieri Corps representative in several Europol analytical projects, including AP Check the Web. He has a BSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice and a Ms in Security and Intelligence.
